Description

Administrator / Will Reader / Will Report Writer

Location: London – E1 8QS
Salary: £18,000 – £19,200 DOE
Employment Status: Full-Time, Permanent

Why do we want you?
We want you because you’re looking for something different.  You’re a strong administrator who likes reading and report writing and you’re looking for a job which will allow you to do both.  This administrative job role involves reading wills and writing reports based on the content relating to charitable gifts so its a fantastic first step into the world of Legacy Management.

Smee & Ford (part of the Wilmington plc portfolio) is the UK’s leading provider of trusted legacy information and have over 125 years’ experience, reading through over 5,000 wills each week, identifying and reporting any charitable content.  We’re looking for a Will Reader and Report Writer with fantastic attention to detail and numeracy (you have to work out fractions!!) to support our work.

Main Purpose of Role
As a will reader and will report writer you will work both autonomously and as part of the team reading all Scottish, English and Welsh extracting those which contain charitable content and reporting on that content for our clients.

We work to strict timelines so you’ll need to be the sort of person who can focus and prioritise their workload to ensure that all wills are read within their allocated timeframes.

You’ll also need to be good with basic maths as you’ll be working out percentages of gifts and reporting on statistics.

Whilst the main purpose of the job role is interpreting wills that contain gifts to charities into a bespoke database, and linking the information to the charity mentioned you will also liaise with other Reader/Reporters regarding any missing / incomplete wills.

We always support colleagues to develop their skills but to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to tick most of these boxes…
– Experience in the same or similar detail based reading/reporting role
– Excellent attention to detail and report writing skills
– Our business is growing so you’ll need to be flexible and open to change, with the ability to adapt quickly
– Impeccable time management and organisational skills
– Self-motivated, with a positive attitude
– Excellent interpretation skills, and good written and spoken English
– Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
