About the area you’ll be working in

The Health Roster Team play an absolutely vital role in ensuring that the hospital has safe and effective staffing in place across all areas to deliver the very best service to our patients. 

What you’ll be doing

In this role you will work with clinicians and managers across the Hospital to ensure that the HealthRoster system is operating to its full potential within the hospital. You will ensure that each department produces safe and efficient rosters that fulfil the demands of the service, working within financial budgets. You will lead and manage a small (but perfectly formed!) HealthRoster Team, driving ongoing and new projects that make the most of the system in a private Hospital setting.  We’ll need your tenacity and drive to take forward improvements and explore integration opportunities with our core HR and Payroll system.

What’s a typical day?

No two days are ever the same in this varied role.  Whether you are designing and delivering roster creation and management training for new and existing users, adapting content to address audience needs and partnering with clinical and non-clinical managers to provide reports on utilisation that help them drive performance in their area. You will ensure information is used appropriately in line with information governance and data protection rules.  You will maintain high data quality and confidentiality standards within the system, highlighting potential breaches. Additionally, you will understand the demands on department budgets offering advice and support to ensure budget compliance, liaising closely with the Finance Team to find creative solutions that make the most of our permanent and flexible staffing.

Who we’re looking for?

  • Proven experience operating and maintaining Health Roster is essential to this role
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and ability to produce and deliver management information.
  • Detailed understanding of Nurse and Allied Health Professional Rostering & Resident Medical Officer Rota’s, preferably gained in a similar regulated environment.
  • Excellent understanding of working regulations and guidelines e.g. EWTD
  • Experience of delivering training and presentations to groups of staff and on 1-1 basis
  • Experience of generating and analysing reports and documents which contain complex data
  • Evidence of managing projects/tasks/responsibilities with minimum guidance
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with an e-Rostering system
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of handling and storing confidential personal sensitive data in line with GDPR
  • Experience of managing or supervising a team and adherence to HR policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation; excellent verbal and written communication are essential.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills while responding to tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage own workload with minimum supervision and use own initiative
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex issues in a logical and practical manner
  • High attention to detail and accurate and timely data input
  • Proven analytical skills to gather, interpret and analyse complex data and system faults
  • Ability to challenge and persuade others to change their working practices in order to take best advantage of the rostering system
  • Ability to build on others suggestions and ideas and can suggests new way to improve their own work
  • Experience of working with the payroll function within HealthRoster would be desirable
