Regulatory Analyst/Executive

Our client is looking for two dedicated and hard-working team members to join the Regulatory Affairs Directorate. The Regulatory Affairs Directorate plays a cross cutting and central role in the client’s activities, working with colleagues across the business, our customers, Ofgem, the SEC Panel and Government.

Both roles will be within the Regulation Team, which ensures that the client as an organisation delivers in accordance with the regulatory requirements placed on it. This team also supports the business to identify and make changes to its Licence, the Smart Energy Code (SEC) and new Retail Energy Code (REC) that are needed to facilitate delivery our objectives. Other parties are also able to make changes to the regulatory documents that dictate our objectives and how we deliver them. The Regulation Team tracks these and advises the business on their implications.

Specifically, the roles will include supporting Regulation Managers as they partner teams across the business and support their forward plans for regulatory change, and where necessary leading for the team on smaller projects and functional areas.  

The client is a multi-site organisation, but the Regulation Team works from our London office. Very occasional travel to our other regional sites may be required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in cross functional teams including colleagues in the Finance, Commercial, Operations, Security, Programme, Technical, Design, and Test Teams;
  • Supporting the clients internal change processes, tracking the forward schedule of regulatory change and coordinating the regulation team’s engagement with the business;
  • Working with external stakeholders including the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Ofgem and SECAS (the Smart Energy Code administrator);
  • Co-ordinating and drafting responses to Government consultations;
  • Contributing to the drafting of the clients consultations and managing responses
  • Compile monthly/annual reports for Ofgem and other stakeholders
  • Work with teams across the organisation in resolving ad hoc regulatory queries and issues.

Your experience and skills will include:

  • Regulatory energy industry experience / knowledge (other regulated industries will be considered);
  • Knowledge of regulatory design and/or drafting;
  • Ability to understand the relationship between policy, regulation and complex technical, financial and programme implications;
  • Understanding of the complex regulatory and political framework of the organisation, smart meter roll-out and energy industry; and
  • Programme and Project management experience.
