Job Description:

Job Title: Communications & Engagement Lead

Pay Rate: £(Apply online only) per day

Location: Gloucester

Contract Length: 6 months

The purpose of this role is to drive/lead the organisation’s internal and external communications, engagement, public affairs, marketing, reputation and brand activities in support of the children and families’ improvement plan/outcomes and priorities.

Key Requirements

Support the development of strategic policy and plans (including the children and young people’s plan); make or recommend decisions that ensure there is an understanding of customers, communities, staff and both the children and families service and wider organisation’s reputation.
Be accountable for the effective management of budgets to ensure measurable return on investment.
Commission support and services internally and externally to deliver the children and families communication and engagement plan.
Anticipate and coordinate responses to stakeholder queries and freedom of information requests including those from media.
Work alongside the organisation’s corporate communications team to develop and deliver the organisation’s annual campaigns plan; make an effective contribution to the communications and engagement activity that supports the organisation’s outcomes and priorities.
Develop and evaluation communications and engagement channels for our children and families’ workforce inclusion providers.
Work closely with human resources and organisational development teams to develop and lead activity to support the workforce recruitment and retention strategy.
Identify communications and engagement activity developed for children and families service that could be rolled out organisation wide; contribute to the coordination and evaluation of that roll-out.

Skills and experience

Minimum of 5 years working in strategic communications within a political environment.
Proven track record of developing, leading and delivering innovative, integrated communications and engagement campaigns with defined objectives and evaluation.
Ability to influence the media agenda through proactive forward planning.
Ensure effective mix of channels and maximise the use of digital.
Experience of issues management in complex organisation.
Ability to plan and prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
Experience of budget and contract management.
